Do these concerns feel familiar?
Many parents come to us because they feel something is missing in traditional education.
“Is traditional school holding my child back?”
“I wish they had more freedom to explore what genuinely interests them.”
“I'm worried they're losing their love for learning.”
If so, you're not alone. And you're exactly who we serve.
Here, your child learns how to build confidence, make thoughtful decisions, work as a team, and take on meaningful challenges — and grows in ways traditional schools often overlook.
A different kind of school
Four practices shape every day in the studio. Together, they transfer real responsibility to the learner.
Socratic Discussions
The day launches with a real question — a dilemma, a story, a hard choice. Learners take a position and defend it.
Self-Paced Core Skills
Math, reading, and writing advance by demonstrated mastery, not by the calendar — each learner at the pace that fits.
Real-World Quests
Hands-on challenges in science, entrepreneurship, engineering, art, and more — where knowledge becomes necessary.
A Self-Governing Community
Learners write and sign their own Contract of Promises, hold each other accountable, and care for the studio together.
Big blocks of real work, inside clear guardrails
No bells every 40 minutes. Learners move through substantial blocks of work and play — a structure that builds time management, goal setting, and accountability.
- 9:00Daily Launch — the studio gathers for a Socratic discussion.
- 9:30Core Skills — goal setting, then self-paced math, reading, and writing.
- 12:45Quest — hands-on projects, team challenges, science, coding, art, and more.
- 2:15Reflection — the day closes with honest discussion of goals met and lessons learned.
The Acton model is built for the age of A.I.
The A.I. revolution is already disrupting traditional education — but fortunately, the Acton model is built for this moment.
Our learners develop uniquely human strengths — problem-solving, initiative, leadership, and real-world judgment — the skills that let them thrive alongside A.I., not fall behind it.

A school founded by a parent, for families like yours
Acton Academy Indian Trail was founded by Alex Gajewski — a parent who believes children learn best by doing, and who is building the school he wants for his own family.
Based in Indian Trail, just southeast of Charlotte, we serve families across Union County — including Matthews, Stallings, Weddington, Waxhaw, and Monroe.
$1,500 per month
$18,000 per year, paid in twelve monthly installments — with all materials and studio experiences included, and a 10% sibling discount for families enrolling more than one child.
Intentionally accessible. Our tuition is positioned below many traditional private schools in the area — and starting in 2028, eligible families may be able to apply North Carolina's Opportunity Scholarship toward tuition.
